Islamabad: Media Matters for Democracy organised two training sessions for 32 health journalists working in Punjab.
The first training session was held with 20 health journalists in Lahore from 16th to 17th November 2022, and the second one in Rawalpindi with 12 participants from 7th to 8th December, 2022. The training sessions were designed to make the reporters think about reporting on health in creative ways without compromising on their ethics. They learned about reporting on gender-based violence, as well as ways to counter disinformation while reporting.
The training sessions were accompanied by field visits where the reporters were encouraged to ask right questions from official authorities. The purpose was to improve their capacities to improve their health reporting and allow them to improve their storytelling skills.
The people who participated in the sessions hailed from cities such as Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, and Lodhran among others.
