Media Matters for Democracy is currently commissioning articles for Digital Rights Monitor. We want to publish articles (of around 3000 words each) that critically investigate the internet landscape, social media, and digital technologies, and their relevance to society, culture, politics, businesses, the arts, movements, or everyday life in Pakistan.
We would appreciate ideas that delve into the nuances of social media and internet governance issues, and how internet rights issues shape information, communication, interpersonal relationships, knowledge, identities, and power. We encourage multidisciplinary approaches towards new technologies and how they are generated, regulated and consumed.
We are looking for a wide variety of pieces, including reported stories, opinions and research based-essays, or any other form of non-fiction writing that you think fits the theme. If you have an idea, please fill out this form: https://docs.google.com/…/1FAIpQLSdr35xc0OwnhpAXDF…/viewform
Womxn and non-binary individuals are encouraged to apply.
Each contributor will be paid a fixed rate of 15,000 PKR (inclusive of gov. taxes) per story (2500 – 3000 words).
The payment will be made after the final piece is submitted to the editor for publication.
Stories can be written in English or Urdu. Further queries can be sent to drm@mediamatters.pk.
