Lahore: Media Matters for Democracy organised a field visit for its participants to the District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospital, Sheikhupura on 17 November 2022.
Sheikhupura is an industrial area with many brick kilns. The people in the area suffer from health problems which most of the reporters fail to report on in their daily news coverage.
The Medical Superintendent of the government hospital gave a comprehensive presentation on the health-related situation in the area along with information on the hazards caused by the industry as far as human health is concerned. He also informed the participants about the steps taken by the government to control the hazardous smokes emitting from brick kilns in the area.
The field visit was covered by different local news organisations too.
